No Regard for Disabled Customers and Rude Attitude

I took my wheelchair-bound mother to Checkers Glenfair in Pretoria on Tuesday 4 February around 15:00 or 16:00. My mom was really in pain by this time (previously she had to get a few items from Dischem - right next door) and we ended up buying 14 items, with the basket on her lap. With queues at the other tills, i went to the express till where there was one person at the cashier. We waited, and i started unpacking about 4 items, with a box of milk still being in the basket. I told the cashier that i am just taking my mom around the tills, because Checkers' tills don't have enough space for a wheelchair to pass through. The cashier (a lady) ignored me. I told her again and she told me that we have more than 10 items and she can't help us. Although true, she had no way to know this at that time. I responded by saying we do have 14 items but my mom is in pain and i really want to get her home, and there was currently no one in queue behind us. She refused to look at me and again said she won't help us because we have more than 10 items. I am really sorry i did not take her name. I kept my cool but told her that we will go to another shop that actually cares about customers. We left the groceries right there. Needless to say i took my mom home, and was only able to go get groceries the next day. So keeping in mind that the tills already make no provision for disabled people passing through, and the rude and uncaring nature of personnel towards people with disabilities (at least in this case) i venture that there is no regard for said people. Therefore i will never set foot in the shop again. The Spar upstairs had a few days previously approached us in a queue and had a teller assist us - this is the kind of service that you would expect leveled at a 79 year old woman in a wheelchair - and we thank Spar greatly (as this was not something we requested or expected). The aisles between tills are also wide allowing wheelchairs to pass through, and some of the trolleys are actually of such a way that it can be pushed by my mom while i push her wheelchair. But Checkers Glenfair, you will not have our business again and this makes me skeptical of any Checkers in future.
