Misleading Pricing

Hi there,

I recently attempted to purchase a Pokémon item at Checkers Bothasig and was informed that the advertised price of R49.99 on the app only applies to Checkers Hyper stores. However, there is no indication on the app that this pricing is exclusive to Checkers Hyper.

I was told by customer service that the green icon represents Checkers Hyper, but this is not clearly explained and can easily be misunderstood. As a result, this feels misleading from a customer perspective. Additionally, there is no visible notice on the landing page stating that prices may vary between store formats.

From a customer’s point of view, Checkers and Checkers Hyper appear to be part of the same brand, and such distinctions are not obvious. On other platforms, it is common to clearly state when promotions are “online only” or limited to specific stores.

Because of this, I now have to explain to my son that he cannot get two Pokémon items for R100 as expected, simply because the price differs between Checkers stores. This is disappointing and could have been avoided with clearer communication.

I would appreciate it if this could be clarified or made more transparent to avoid confusion in future.
