Is Checkers closing down? Maybe they should!

We work until 18h00 in Centurion. On the way home, we passed the Kolonnade as it was already 18h40 and that Checkers closes at 19h00. We went to Wingtip and did our shopping. At the till we were informed it is cash only as the system is off. Apparently the entire Checkers network works on the Vodacom network and the managers seem to blame Vodacom. There was no backup card payment option available. Talking to the manager/s also did not help.

I had a few cents cash only. The total for the trolley was almost R1200. I had to go outside to draw cash.

The xtra savings card did not work and we are also not earning eBucks.

This is absolutely pathetic and unacceptable. Why did you not close the shop? Was this just the one shop or was it a country wide issue?
