Incompetence
Checkers Hyper Somerset West
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the persistent and unacceptable challenges I have faced when purchasing stamps at your Money Market counter. On February 5, 2025, I attempted to purchase stamps as part of my routine business operations as a registered stamps agent. Upon my request, the cashier immediately and dismissively stated, "No, we don’t have any," despite my prior phone call to the store confirming that stamps were indeed available.
This issue has been recurring for over a year. Specifically, after 5:00 PM, Money Market cashiers consistently claim that no stamps are available until I escalate the matter to a manager—at which point the stamps miraculously appear. I have brought this to the attention of several managers, including Glyniss and Brandon, yet the issue persists every single month. This strongly suggests a failure of management to take corrective action and enforce proper procedures.
On this particular occasion, I requested R3,700 worth of stamps, and three cashiers—including the Front-End Controller—were unable to process the transaction due to a lack of basic competency.
They did not know how to count the correct number of stamps. They did not know how to scan the stamps. I was forced to wait 40 minutes while they fumbled through the process. Ultimately, I had to instruct them on how to operate the POS system, select the appropriate functions, and complete the transaction myself. This level of incompetence is both unacceptable and unprofessional. It is deeply concerning that frontline staff lack the necessary training to perform such a basic and routine transaction, especially when this issue has been flagged to management on multiple occasions.
I expect an immediate resolution to this ongoing problem, including:
A formal explanation as to why this issue persists despite repeated complaints. Corrective action to ensure cashiers are properly trained in handling stamps transactions. Accountability measures to prevent staff from falsely claiming that stamps are unavailable. Failure to address this matter adequately will leave me with no choice but to escalate my complaint further. I trust that prompt and decisive action will be taken to rectify this situation.
I look forward to your response.
