Good day, I just wanted to bring something to your attention that i'm not happy about. May you please cover your cooked food, bread rolls in the shop for hygiene purpose. The reason why i'm saying this is beacuse they are flies and peoples breath on the cooked food and rolls etc which is not healthy at all. People can get food poisoning from this. Please look into this and treat this as a serious case.<br> <br> Hope to hear from you soonest.

The Checkers supermarket chain regards food safety and hygiene in its stores of utmost importance.
Although there is no standard for sneeze guards in South Africa Checkers does make use of sneeze guards at its Deli and Bakery areas to protect prepared foods from contamination. Further to that, Checkers service department staff undergo food safety and hygiene training and preparation areas are also monitored through regular independent audits to ensure that the required standards are met.
Your concerns were taken up with the relevant department specialists and we can confirm that as part of the renovation of Checkers stores, Checkers Fourways will have shields installed at the bakery.
As these measures are already in place in the bakery and deli departments at Checkers Leaping Frog, the relevant specialists will continue to monitor the required standards in this store.
