Horrific Service at Checkers

Hi All Last year in October I received checker vouchers ad a reward for a work incentive. These vouchers were worth over R20000. I spent some of the voucher and was left with 2 vouchers worth R10000 each. In December I took mu vouchers with to work with an intention of doing my December shopping after work. I had a shock of my life whe I fot to Checkers in Bryanston Johannesburg and discovered that my coucher cards were missing and only the voucher holders were in my bag.

The ladies at the till felt sorry for me as they xould see the stress I was under. They tried to help and eventually ibhad to speak to the manager on duty who had no sympathy at all, instead told me there is nothing she can do that I have to take it up with the Eastgate branch where the vouchers were purchased.

I eventually got through to the Eastgate branch on my phone and the lady that I spoke to told me that she cant help without me having a case number. I pleaded with her to please stop tje cards from being used while I make my way to the police station. She told me there is nothing she can do without the case number even though I had the voucher numbers. I eventually got the case number after hours of waiting at the policestation. When I phoned the Rastgate branch they told me that the one voucher has been depleted and the one had around R1500 left. They then blocked the one voucher and asked me to send a copy of my ID so that they can replace tje voucher that still had some money on it.

At that time my depression got worse ( I suffer from fibromyalgia ) so I just did not have energy to deal with the matter at yhe time as this was money that I was supposed to spend on my family for the firsteve and back to school necessities.

I eventually got my strength back last week and sent an emailed my ID copy to the branch as requested. After no response I called the branch and had to relate the story to 2 different people, a painful story that always ends with me in tears. The last lady called me back the following day and told me that I should come to Eastgate to collect the voucher, I explained to her that I stay in Northriding and shared with her a couple of checkers stores that are within my reach as I use public transport and Eadtgate is too far. With no sympathy she told me there is m Nothing she can do unfortunately I need to find a way to Eastgate. This os afyer my R20000 lost, I still need to suffer to get what isnleft on the card. I dont blame checkers for the lost vouchers but im am just disappointed at the lack of sympathy I received. I have been a trusted shopper for over 20 years. With so many branches near me the least they could do is to try and and help me get the card at my nearest checkers. My family and I already had a miserable forfirsteve and back ro school. Now I must suffer just to get the balance on my card...... Come on Checkers you can do better for your loya customers!

Its almost a week later and checkers has not responded. I now understand why I got the treatment I received from the store.
Its part of their culture, they just dont care about their customers.
