Horrible Branch Manager

<p>I walked into a checkers liqour store in Wilrogate this afternoon to get ice and Lemonade. While standing on the fridges, ready to open to take out an ice, I hear noise coming from the front of the store, just close to the tills. I decided to stop whatever it is I was doing and observe what the noise was about. To my dismay, it was a gentleman, dressed in Checkers uniform, addressing a lady who was also wearing the same uniform. I stopped and watched, as this man was lashing out at this lady in front of the tills,which are, by the way, very close to the entrance of the store. His voice was raised to an extend that I could hear him. He did not want to address this woman in private, he deliberately did this in front of everyone to humiliate her. I was disgusted to say the least.</p> <p>Now, I work as a Branch Manager for a bank, I have my bad days now and then, BUT I WILL NEVER SHOUT AT MY TEAM MATE IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. The manner in which the man spoke to the lady was down right derogatory and demeaning. He had an opportunity to call her to the side and call her out for whatever his issue was, but Noooooo, He gave it to her in full view of customers.</p> <p>Now, if this is how Checkers management treats it's staff then I will never ever shop there again. He did not even seem bothered even when customers went to the tills to pay, he did not care.</p> <p>Now, I asked what the name of the gentleman was and what his position was and I was told by the cashier that he is the Branch Manager and his name is Groenewald. I was shocked that a whole branch manager, who is part of one of the biggest brands in SA lacks customer service and the basic s****s of supervising. He showed signs that he is a Boss and not a Manager. I would like to make the people in power aware of the type of treatment that their staff are receiving at the hands of this man. I will never go to that Checkers, I will drive a further 5km to a Pick 'n pay than shop at a store where people are not respected!</p> <p>To Bertha, the lady who was at the end of the firing line, I hope u will continue serving your customers with respect and a smile as I've noticed you during my visits to the store. You should teach him a few things about leadership because the manner in which you behaved said a lot about you.</p>
