Great customer service from Checkers

I accidentally broke the glass turntable of the microwave in my rented flat. The microwave belongs to my landlord.

With a little online research, I found out this this particular make and model of microwave was sold by Checkers.

I went to St John's Checkers in PInetown. After finding the right person to talk to, he said that they didn't sell it seperately, but sometimes faulty units that had been returned and were usually s****ped had turntables. He went to the store room to check and returned about five minutes later with an identical turntable to the one I had broken.

He then said he would have to speak to his manager to find out the price. About a minute later, he said that I could "...have it for R10, no - make that R5 as I see you have a loyalty card and are already buying other things from us."

I was blown away!

This manager was top class, but did not want to give me his name as he said that he was just doing his job and needed nothing further from me.
