False Advertising and Billing the Higher Non-adverttised Price
On 17 Nov 2022 I placed an order with Checkers Sixty 60 on the Smartphone App. This was after I received numerous “Early Black Friday – App deals only” pop-up marketing material on my phone. I was interested in one of these specials: Finish All-In-1 Dishwashing Tablet 56 Pack ** BUY 2 FOR R220 **. I added other items to my order which totalled R481.91 and checked out by authorising R481.91 on my Capitec debit card. An order confirmation email was received at 16h09 confirming the items and prices of my order. When the delivery came I received 2 x Finish Powerball Quantum Regular All In 1 Max Tablets 50 Pack and billed for R499.98 (instead of R220.00). I reported this to the Driver (I have his details on record) who asked me to contact the shop. He took photographs of my order versus the items he delivered as proof. I reported this to the Call Centre at 16h55 and was given a Reference number ***. Capitec has since reversed the original amount authorised of R480.91 and processed the amount of R760.89. The difference being R279.98. I am out of pocket for this amount as I received good which I did not order. Checkers, this goes beyond misleading advertising to the extent where you forcefully expect me to accept and pay for items which I did not order and Checkers falsely advertised. So by the way, at the time of posting this Complaint the exact adverti*****t was still being displayed, obviously misleading thousands more Customers. Shame on you.
