Expired Stock on shelves

I am very disappointed at the Checkers Hyper Green Acres on Ring Road. Yesterday the 17/18 my wife and i went to pick up few things at checkers , some of the item s were Beetroot and Maize Meal. When i got home i decided to eat some of the Beetroot while my wife was busy preparing lunch.

to my surprise the taste was off so decided to check the expiry date only to find out BB:16.08.18 - PD: 16.02.17 , i wonder why put an item that's over 6 months after the expiry date on shelves .

As if that was not enough , we decided to check other items the maize meal has maggots . Is there no process in place at Checkers Hyper to check expired stock and put it away or is just a matter of lazy staff or no structure at all? This is very disappointing
