Expired smoothie with bad service

I purchased Sir smoothies at Eco Park Boulevard- Checkers and they were expired. One had expired on the 17th and the other 15th of October. When I had called their hotline they told me I should come back with them so that they can refund me. However I do not live in the area meaning I should use my petrol to go back for a refund. I am really not happy with the way they handled the situation.
