Expired milk sold

I have written numerous times to checkers and even lodged a complaint on the website but they have ignored me for the last 3 weeks.

Like many South Africans, in an attempt to adhere to lockdown guidelines, I have re**** heavily on Checkers for all my grocery delivery requirements. I prefer to buy groceries for a month to limit contact with any individual.

on 3rd August, I purchased 6 cartons of milk, with the hope that these cartons would get me through August. I was utterly disappointed to wake-up the next day only to find one of the cartons had exploded, leaving sour milk all over my kitchen pantry.

After investigating, I noted that all milk cartons were expired. This comes at a high cost to me as I will now have to repurchase a new batch of milk.

This is my first bad experience with your online delivery option. I believe in this instance, Checkers took advantage of the fact that consumers will be at the mercy of their shoppers. Ideally, Shoppers should act with due care towards their customers (as they are literally our eyes are ears while in the store) and not seek to use our vulnerability as a way to push the expired stock to the customer.

I sincerely request insights into Checkers' policy with regards to the sale of expired goods and how I can avoid this from reoccurring in the future.
