Expired Medication

Good day

I have bought myself an Eye drop prescribed to me and Gaviscon, The eye drop, after couple of using it and without better results but worse condition, i realized that it has expired, i bought it on the 25th of March 2015 and only realized this morning that the expiry month was actually march, was it supposed to be still on shelf to start with? The 24 tablet gaviscon will expire on the month of May and i've just bought for in case my heartburn start and there's no way i would finish it before then. What's the policy on these products?

I stay in Hartbee****rt and having to take this back will be a mission.
I had the same situation in Hartbee****rt Checkers last year where i had to get rid of half my grocery where i realised a week late that most of it was over the expiry date, too bad i didn't have a slip to prove so it was my loss.

Please help, this seems like a norm with Checkers
