Expired Cake

I bought a slice of cake from the bakery today at the checkers with the sell by date labelled for the 29th of September 2015, however when I get home I realise that the slice of cake was possibly way past its expiry date as it was literally solid as a rock and definitely inedible. I am really dissappointed as I always see checkers offering it's customers fresh food at the greatest quality.
