Exceptional floor staff and managers

Checkers Hyper Menlyn Park. Amazing supermarket and amazing floor staff. This review is mainly about the floor staff and not about the rude manager, Glorious, I encountered. Her review has a different rating and therefore not included here.

I represent a foreign diplomat minister for his personal, non-official shopping needs while on diplomatic mission here in South Africa. When I visit a place he enjoys, I always try to find someone who is professional who will assist him, should the need arise.

I have been fami**** with Sean Beukes and his exceptional professionalism for some time. When I entered the store with the minister, the friendly staff member at the door informed me that Sean was there and somewhere in the store. Being a large store I could not locate him, so I was directed by another friendly staff member to the manager counter. After some time Sean was called.

When Sean arrived and as we walked, I explained to him that the minister was very happy with their store. I explained to him that the minister will not need constant assistance, but it would be nice if I could introduce them if he ever needs assistance in the future. I also briefly explained the minister's importance in South Africa and also to our economy.

What caught me by surprise was the manner of respect Sean showed by first asking me how he should address the minister. We live in times where people are more concerned what is important to themselves, but this action of Sean was in my books extremely professional.

The introduction was brief but Sean conducted himself in an amazing way. He also used a greeting method which is highly respected by the minister's different culture. The minister then complimented towards Sean that the store is very good. Sean said that if he needs anything, he must just call for him. I also took his number so that I can contact him directly if the need arises.

Again Sean greeted him respectfully and left the minister to proceed.

After the shopping was completed, the minister wanted to know if Checkers Liquor, next door, had any Italian wines. We entered there. The friendly and well mannered cashier called Fransie who was clearly the wine expert. He showed the minister their "Wines of the World" rack and suggested a few wines of which minister made his purchase.

It is always such a pleasure to be provided by an expert in a certain area.
