DOES CHECKERS HYPER CARE ABOUT THE ELDERLY??
EMAIL SENT TO CUSTOMER CARE 12 DAYS LATER NO REPLY
Dear Sir/Madam
We represent a customer of Checkers by the name of Ms. Margaret Dyer
We confirm that on Friday 2nd May 2025, our client Ms Maragret Dyer, an elderly pensioner went shopping with her son at Checkers Hibiscus.
Whilst shopping at Checkers and without warning, my client slipped on a wet floor and sustained injuries which required medical intervention.
We confirm that there was no signage displayed indicating that the floor was wet and/or unsafe and that as an elderly person the injuries that could have been sustained could have been life threatening and somewhat catastrophic.
Despite her slipping on the wet floor, not one Checkers employee came to our client’s aid and eventually a fellow customer of checkers, who fortunately also happened to be a qualified nurse, was able with our client’s son, to provide the necessary and required assistance to our client and ensure she was able to seek outside medical assistance.
Our client sustained injuries which necessitated her having seek medical attention at a medcial facility and which resulted in her receiving 8 stitches, yet to date there has been no communication, feedback or contact from Checkers regarding this incident nor a follow to check on her wellbeing. I am sure that such lack of empathy and disregard would not be considered the norm from Checkers.
Whilst having a wet floor without proper signage is in itself somewhat dangerous and suggests gross negligence on the part of Checkers, my client communicated the incident to the appropriate persons and to date, no positive action has been taken, absolutely no positive feedback or for that matter any feedback at all has been communicated and the entire issue has been ignored.
Again, this shows a total lack of empathy towards our senior community who frequent your establishment and this shows a total disregard for a pensioner who has had to incur the costs of medical treatment due to the failure by Checkers.
Whilst we find the lack of action by Checkers distasteful, we record that my client confirms that she does not seek legal redress nor does she intend instituting any action against checkers, my clients concern is the simple issue that checkers ignores its elderly community, ignores injuries to customers and disregards the expenses incurred due to checkers failures.
Again, we record that my client will not be taking the matter further and has resigned herself to the fact that she must be liable for the medical expenses incurred and further bear the costs of the spoilt groceries purchased, which spoiled due to her lengthy attendance at the medical facility.
In stating that my client will not be pursuing the matter, my client however she does expect a suitable explanation and response to the total lack of action, communication and empathy from Checkers.
We record that we find the lack of compassion and feeling very distasteful and we would appreciate your most urgent response.
