Disgusting service/ *********** staff

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the appalling service that we received at your Checkers branch in Newcastle Mall on the 3rd of November 2020. We were in Newcastle for business and visited Newcastle Mall next to black Rock Casino. We needed a few things from the shops so we made a stop at Capitec Bank because we wanted to withdraw cash but unfortunately their system was offline. The Capitec consultants suggest we do a "send cash" transaction and withdraw the cash from checkers money market. Seeing as Checkers was around the corner from where Capitec is, as advised we did the "send cash" and proceeded to make our way to Checkers. With me was my wife and one of our employees, whom we needed to pay hence we wanted to withdraw cash. At the money market I requested to withdraw R3000,so the the cashier called the supervisor as she didnt have enough money in her till. The supervisor (MBALI STHOLE)was very impolite, she pointed us to the tills with attitude

then she left us and went to go lean over behind the counter at the cigarette counter. We stood at the packer side of the till for more than 20min while the cashier continued serving her clients without even acknowledging us. After a while my wife then approached me asked why we were not being assisted and ask for the supervisor. One lady came and ask what is the problem then I explained to her that we were at the money market to withdraw cash and they have money and the other supervisor (MBALI STHOLE) pointed us to come and wait here without taking us to the till or explaining to the cashier who was supposed to assist us, and we laid our griviences to her (Winni Hadebe) that we were not happy with the first supervisors (MBALI STHOLE) attitude. Then Winni apologized and started helping us. The 1st supervisor (MBALI STHOLE) shouted across the store in a uncouth manner telling Winnie " Dont help those people if you dont want to get into trouble " (speaking in Zulu). Then Winni the asked why she mustn't help us, mind you at this time everyone in the store is now staring at us as if we have committed some type of crime. We felt so disrespected and humiliated. Still leaning over the counter and not moving closer to talk to us in a civilised manner again Mbali rudely shouts saying " Do not help those people if you still want your job those people dont have ID to withdraw the money " then Winni ask if we don't have ID then we gave her the ID which belonged to our employee that was with us. Then Winni took the ID and started helping us. Mbali again loudly shouts "that ID doesn't belong to them you are going to get into trouble". I have never experienced or seen such incompetency. I was left wondering if Checkers provides their staff with any customer service training at all - proper self conduct in the work place- business etiquette - customer rapo - business communication. We were left speechless and embarrassed is an understatement for the treatment we recieved.

Winnie decided to also stop assisting us and she gave us back the ID, and she dissapeared. We ask for a manager and surprisingly they pointed us to the very same graceless Mbali Sthole. The whole store had seemingly come to a standstill, we turned to her to ask her about her behavior and she totally went ballistic and even used valgar language towards my wife and the store became so chaotic. We told her we are going to report her she boldly said we can go report her nothing is going to happen to her. We asked for the store manager we were told that she/ he is not available, and there was another manager by the name of Sibusiso who was also totally useless and didn't bother to call his colleague in order. It's clear to me that the this store clearly has no order especially when it comes to its management staff. This has to be the lowest of lowest standards that I've ever recieved at a Checkers branch, yet alone any place of business. This was sheer disappointing customer service.

Nonetheless we decided to take our business elsewhere, where we would be valued and respected as customers. Seeing as we were just passerbys in Newcastle, I must say thank God we don't live there if these are the standards that customers are subjected too and thankfully neither my family or friends will ever go through such an awful ordeal ever again.
