Disappointed

I’m extremely disappointed with the wors I purchased from Checkers Saints. I bought a beef & pork Grabouw wors, and according to the packaging, the sell-by date is 05 April 2026. I cooked it today, well within that date, yet the meat smelled completely rotten once it started cooking. The odor was so bad that it was clearly not safe to eat, and I had no choice but to throw it away. What’s most concerning is that the product was still within its sell-by date. This raises serious questions about how this meat was stored or handled before being sold. How can a product already be spoiled before its sell-by date? That is unacceptable and a serious food safety issue. This experience has left me puzzled and frustrated. Customers trust that products on the shelf are safe to consume up until the indicated date. Selling meat that is already off is not only a waste of money but also a potential health risk. I expected far better quality control from Checkers. I hope this issue is taken seriously and investigated, because no customer should have to deal with spoiled food that’s supposedly still within date.

Reviewer Update
Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the unacceptable quality of products I recently purchased from your store, as well as the complete lack of response to my previous complaint.

I recently bought Braaipap maize meal from your Checkers Saints branch, only to discover that it was infested with worms. Unfortunately, I had already poured it into the container where I store my existing maize meal, which has now resulted in all of it being contaminated and completely unusable. This has caused me both financial loss and serious concern regarding your store’s food safety standards.

What makes this situation even more frustrating is that just last week I reported another issue involving wors that was rotten at the time of purchase. To date, I have not received any form of communication—no apology, no explanation, and no reimbur*****t. This level of disregard for a paying customer is both disappointing and unacceptable.

I find it deeply concerning that such substandard products are being sold, and even more troubling that customer complaints are being ignored. This reflects poorly on your quality control processes and customer service standards.

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate it further through consumer protection channels.

I trust that you will treat this complaint with the seriousness it deserves and respond without further delay.

Yours sincerely,
Lencoe Bouwer
