Complaint About Poor Customer Service at Checkers Centurion Mall

I would like to formally raise a complaint regarding the treatment I received at Checkers Centurion Mall from a cashier named Appreciate.

My purchased items included detergents, which are normally placed inside a transparent plastic bag before being packed together with other groceries. When I requested this, Appreciate told me that she did not have those plastics available and instructed me to go and look for them myself “where the fruits are.”

What made the situation upsetting was that immediately after assisting me, another customer, an Indian lady buying flowers without a price tag was assisted very differently. Appreciate was able to ask a colleague to go fetch another bouquet with a price tag for that customer. It was disappointing to see that effort and assistance could be provided for another customer while I was expected to sort out my own issue myself.

The difference in treatment made me feel undervalued as a customer, and I believe this matter should be addressed by the store management.

I eventually had to request assistance from a manager, Lerato, who then came to assist with a refund issue.

I am not only disappointed by the service itself, but by the inconsistency in how customers are treated. I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated and addressed appropriately.
