Cheeky Checkers!

I find it sad to see how the once great stores like some of the Checkers branches are going down the drain due to lazy, uncaring, disinterested, rude staff they employ. There is no pride anymore in the work they do, just show up and get paid the end of the month. At Brooklyn Checkers today, firstly it was like a party for the staff with everyone standing around, laughing, chatting loudly, there is no discipline at all. Then when I came to pay, my credit card was declined. Strange as I had just used it at another shop. Tried again, decline - said insufficient funds ( I know I put money in the night before). Called a supervisor, same thing. I suggested a few times they try another machine as I had just used the card with no problem. She was too lazy to try and get another machine, just kept telling me there is not enough money in the account! I felt so humiliated in front of others behind me in the queue and eventually paid with my debit card. I went afterwards next door, bought something and paid with my credit card, no problem!!! Went back to Checkers, showed them the slip and they found the supervisor who had "helped" me and she denied me ever asking her to get another machine! So, it became heated, I called her a **** and threatened never to put foot in that shop again. She then apologised to me and we left it at that, but, their behaviour is shocking and I think shopping at a smaller, more personal shop is the way to go these days. The staff at so many places now don't care and do not even worry about being proud of the jobs they do.
