Checkers Zevenwacht branch. Gluten-free. Satisfaction-free.
This complaint is specific to the Checkers Zevenwacht branch:
50% of the time I visit this branch I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth - no, it's not something I ate. From cutting yourself on shelves while retrieving an item, staff always being in the way, being rude, making it obvious you're wasting their time just by being there, to very odd layout of the store and frustrating experience almost EVERY time you have to deal with a human being.
Today was the last straw:
I thought I'd treat myself to some bread. I'd take Checkers up on their offer (displayed on a big banner at the bakery) of ordering gluten-free bread 24 hours ahead. I go to the bakery to enquire. "Sorry sir, we used to take orders here, but you have to place your order at the manager's office now".
Fair enough I thought. They must have their reasons. I'll know to do this next time.
I cut through the very busy store and Christmas queues and find the manger's office on the other side of the store. No manager in sight. I ask for a manager. A manager arrives eventually. "Sorry, I'm only a floor manager, you can't order with me, let me call someone who can help.". Two requests via intercom, 15 minutes later, no results. She calls the powers that be on their mobile phone. The side of the conversation I could hear: "Hi, the customer wants gluten-free bread."... "Gluten. Free. Bread"... "GLUTEN FREE!".
That's when I walked out. This store won't see me again. I'll gladly sacrifice my eBucks and the convenience of the location to never have to deal with this utter ineptitude again.
I went to my friendly local Spar. My gluten-free bread will be ready in 2 hours. Just enough time to write this complaint that won't be answered.
