Checkers using "Pot of Gold" label to disguise foods that mainly imported from China

I am horrified at how Checkers seem to go out of their way to sell foodstuffs that are not made in South Africa. A good example of this is their range of "Pot of Gold" products. For those of us who are middle aged we well remember when "Pot of Gold" was a brand name of OK Bazaars and it was only used for locally grown products. When Checkers purchased OK Bazaar for R1,00 they took over the "Pot of Gold" label. As most of us associate this label with South Africa we still purchase these products without realizing that most of the products might be packed for Checkers but are actually imported, mostly from China. In addition to this many of the Checkers own brand items are imported, again mostly from China. Checkers have introduced a new range of Potato Crisps and snacks. Again customers would think that they would be made here, but guess what, they are also made in China. I am not happy eating food manufactured in China and feel very strongly about Checkers importing goods that can be made locally from China. Dont we import enough from China. Also I would have thought that Checkers would have thought further about the longer term. Our economy is really suffering at present and the Government is doing its best to create jobs. But with Checkers we have probably the largest food retailer selling more and more imported goods, especially foods made in China.
