Checkers & their partnership with the City of Tshwane through EasyPay
Customers are mislead to think that if they use the Checkers Hyper EasyPay facility to pay their City of Tshwane utility account in full, after it has been in arrears from the 19th October 2017 to the 13th October 2017 with the overdue amount of R769.23 and a total amount of R2491.00, that they will be able to purchase pre-paid electricity in the amount of an R100. I was handed a slip without token number and where told that it doesn't reflect directly and I should phone the EasyPay help desk for further assistance. Only the be sent back by the EasyPay help desk since it was a in store purchase. Hereafter I was told by the Checkers Hyper Mayville Mall Manager that they are only the middle man and that is the way the system works. She also said that I could come back the following day to claim my token. Needless to say it is now 12h30 and I got nothing out of them. The City Council told me that transactions between Checkers Hyper EasyPay might take between 2 to 14 days to reflect. I have tenants without electricity since I am doing sub metering. My question is; shouldn't I get a immediate service after paying in full? Or should I withheld payment to Checkers Hyper when I buy my groceries trough them?
