Checkers Southgate Mall, Johannesburg incorrect price

Good day

I just had a bad and disappointing experience with Checkers Southgate mall, Johannesburg a few hours ago. I have been a consistent customer of the business and hoping my faith in their customer service can be restored.

So what happened is I had entered the store to purchase a few toiletries and was very delighted to see a good tooth brush( Oral B) being sold at an attractive price of R114.99.

I placed the tooth brush together with the rest of my items and headed to the till to make payment. As I swiped my card, I released the total cost for all my items was a approximately R700 of which I could not understanding, considering less than ten items were bought and most of them being toiletry.

Before I approached the cashier for an explanation, I went back to check the price and indeed the price that was above the paid for tooth paste was R114.99 as opposed to the price of R519.99 that reflected on the receipt.

I went to approach the ladies and they were very kind and more than willing to assist me with a refund after I explained my situation. The regional manager was called;Mr Mike. He approved the refund of R519.99 but refused to sell the tooth brush to me for the price that was placed on the item. I am certain I have the right to purchase the tooth brush at that price as a consumer.

It is the responsibility of the business to ensure the correct prices are placed on items. Moreover, there was no tag for R519.99- why is it that the business placed the incorrect price and fail to account for their negligence when customers demand the items at the prices they see? is it to make consumers to pay high prices because we all know most consumers do not pay much attention to the price of the products and swipe only to realize they paid a lot of money and fear to approach big businesses.

I am happy the business refunded me my money but I want justice and to help many other consumers realize their rights.

I am hoping the business will make contact ( ***/***) with me and resolve this matter as soon as possible before I escalate to the highest level.

regards
