CHECKERS SIXTY60

At about 11 this Saturday morning (it is now 18:00) I placed an order with Checkers Sixty60 online ordering service. The money immediately left my Nedbank account. Then I got a message from Sixty60 that Nedbank had declined payment and the order had been cancelled - R447.20. I live in Pretoria and was advised to phone Cape Town's Sixty60 office (spoke to Garth). He insisted the transaction had been declined and gave me some story about the bank reserving the money and that I should wait 24 to 48 hours for it the be reserved. I phoned Nedbank's customer service and was told there is no such thing as reserving payments, and that the money had definitely been paid and had left my account. I was also told to wait for a credit from Sixty60. MEANTIME I HAVE NO GROCERIES AND NO MONEY. I even went to the local Checkers Menlyn Park store, showed them the SMS on my phone saying the money had gone off my account, and Jeanette at that store admitted they had received the order, but the money had not been approved, and that I should wait for the BANK to refund my money. I suggested they give me the groceries meantime, and i would give them my ID and all my details), and if I get the money back (from the fairies, I presume!) I would go straight to the store and give it to them. No, they told me, they could not do that. I should wait 12 to 24 hours (over a weekend, please note, so probably another couple of days) to get the "reserved" money refunded. I'm 76, with limited funds, and at this age in today's times need to limit exposure to shopping environments. This treatment is atrocious. It's disgusting. I live in a retirement home where elderly people are great at distributing bad news on the g****vine. They are hearing all about this from me.. To add to my complaint, I have never seen an "elderly" queue in a Checkers store, even when packed with customers in this day and age.. Beverley van Reenen ***
