Checkers Selcourt Towers, selling expired food products.

As a loyal customer of Checkers due to their fresh food and the fact that it is the nearest supermarket to my house, On the 15th April 2020, I went to Checkers Selcourt Towers in Selcourt Springs to buy a few essentials and top up on groceries. Amongst this was a box of BOKOMO WEETBIX. The next morning while my wife was making breakfast for our 3 year old daughter, she complained about an offish smell on the product (Weetbix), I thought she was being hormonal, but I got concern when my daughter kept on complaining about the taste, as she finished her favourite meal of the morning, I decided to check the Weetbix and the first thing that hit me was an off smell like old oil, I look at the packaging to my surprise the product had expired on 31/03/20.

I immediately took the pack back to the shop, requested a manager and explained my ordeal, where I was surprised that the manager said he cant smell anything wrong, however, he acknowledge that they had expired by checking the date, I also indicated that my child had consumed this food and I am now worried about her health, the manager casually said, she wont get sick, only fresh food like meat can make a person sick when consumed after it had expired, then he instructed a cashier to issue me a refund and give me another box of the same brand.

I went to the shelf with the manager to get another pack when I realised that the first 3 packs that i took all had inconsistent expiry dates, 1st pack 21/05/20, 2nd pack 13/10/20 and the 3rd pack, which I was given had 7/11/20. This to me looked a bit suspicious since all the packs are sitting next to one another with the probability that they came from the same batch of stock.

When I got home, my wife and I decided to throw away the product because of that suspicion the could be something wrong with it. I hope and pray my daughter does not get affected in anyway by this and I am very disappointed that a supermarket brand that I trust so much could let this happen and not care much about the effect.
