Checkers – Rotten Cheese x2

I thought Checkers were supposed to be reknown for their cheeses! Well, we bought two Simonsberg Brie wedges from Checkers Virginia Circle in Durban North for a braai we were having a week later on Christmas eve. The BB date on Simonsberg cheese was 24th December which was perfect because we were braaing in the afternoon and the cheese should have been perfectly ripe. However, when I opened the first cheese it was completely rotten. I thought maybe it was a bad batch and proceeded to open the other cheese to find that that too was also rotten. Both cheeses they were completely rotten, despite being fully refrigerated after purchase only a few days before.

This tells me one of two things, either Checkers are not storing perishable goods at the correct temperatures and their cheeses are rotting prematurely or Simonsberg are not calculating their best before dates correctly. Whichever way it is, I am completely put off buying any Simonsberg product and now seriously doubt the freshness of any perishables sold at Checkers.

Reviewer Update

I posted a comment about Pick N Pay and they called me personally within 24 hours.

The fact that Checkers still havent responded tells me that the wither dont care or are inundated with complaints...........Guess where I went to do the shopping today!?....you guessed it - Pick N Pay
