Checkers Redhill Volksrust

I am extremely disappointed with an experience at Checkers Redhill in Volksrust, Mpumalanga on 28 November 2025 at 12:30. The store had advertised the BushBaby Mushroom Chair for R299. Less than 24 hours into the promotion, my husband visited the store to purchase two chairs.

One employee was willing to help him search for the chairs, but a second employee intervened and abruptly stopped the search, insisting that the stock was finished. She refused to let the first employee continue assisting. This seems improbable for a promotional item and raises concerns about stock handling.

I attempted to resolve this by calling the store multiple times:

On three separate calls, I was promised a supervisor would assist, but no one ever came to the phone.

On the fourth call, when I asked for the supervisor’s email, the employee refused to provide it.

She then claimed she was a trainee, would not transfer me to anyone senior, and promised to call back—but no follow-up was provided.

This unhelpful behaviour and lack of accountability raises concerns of:

Misleading or deceptive marketing

Bait marketing

Unfair, unreasonable, or dishonest conduct

I request that Checkers:

1. Investigates the handling of the promotional stock.

2. Confirms whether the BushBaby Mushroom Chairs were available at the time.

3. Investigates why staff prevented assistance and blocked communication with a supervisor.

4. Takes appropriate corrective action or training if necessary.

5. Provides feedback on the outcome of this complaint.

I have always valued Checkers, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope the Head Office will treat this matter seriously and ensure proper customer service standards.
