Checkers Protea Heights being the most unfriendly store I have been at in years.

Beside being one of the most unfriendly store I have ever been at it also seem to be store not caring about customer service - exspierence. I decided to place my experience with Checkers Protea Height on Hello Peter due to Checkers not being bothered to response to me.

Below my email to them, you be the judge.

Good afternoon,

Yesterday I went to buy a few groceries. When I arrived at the till I greeted the till operator three times and she did not greet me back at all. She was teller one and another lady in the queue saw what was happening and said in dutch (I am dutch as well) ‘that the youth (she is very young) think they do us a big favor ringing up our bill’. I agree with the statement and I know one should not mention but I suspect more to it living in SA. I tried to locate the supervisor to address it there and then but could not find her. I then decided to type a letter to Checkers and second thoughts now it might be better to type a letter then being victimized in the future if I addressed it there and then. This youngster can be glad she still has a job, there are thousands in the queue who will happily take over from her with a friendly attitude. She should not be facing customers with her attitude. This is not the first time I am reporting the staff (bakery and previously another teller) at this grocery store being so unfriendly. The management team changed a while ago and all seem to be going well but it seem to be slipping back into the arena of being one of the most unfriendly stores! Corporate Checker with their lower management team should seriously look into encourage their staff to treat their customers with respect when the customer greet them! It is a small thing to greet and it goes along way making ones shopping experience a pleasant one and for the staff appreciated by the customers. If the Checkers group endorses this behavior it will just be a matter of time and all the good work Checkers have done thus to be the leading grocery store in SA will be undone. I am now seriously considering going to another grocery store and to be honest I cannot wait for the Checkers group to consider implementing touch-less checkouts. This will do away with all this nonsense of unfriendly staff.
