Checkers Plumstead

Yesterday the 16th September 2019, I went into Checkers in search of wool to knit a garment. Having had unpleasant shopping experiences in Checkers on previous occasions, ( I found the staff to be rude, surly, unhelpful and uninformed of the products on the shelves etc) my expectations of dealing with Checkers staff was admittedly rather low. I tend to avoid shopping at any Checkers as a result, but since my supermarket of choice does not stock wool, I thought I would suffer through the unpleasant experience just this once.

What an unexpected, pleasant experience it turned out to be! The young woman I approached to assist me, Unathi Mtati, was friendly and greeted me with a hello and a genuine smile. She asked me what type of wool, colour etc I was looking for, left what she was doing and took me straight to the shelf. She checked the barcodes - her own initiative - to ensure the wool batch was the same and opened a packet up to give me one single ball to go with the packet I chose. Unathi was like a breath of fresh air! She was cordial, helpful and knew the products on the shelf.

Amazing, isn't it, how just one positive, motivated, friendly person can impact on one's shopping experience?
