Checkers no more

I have been shopping at the Checkers store in Bergvliet for many years and have always been impressed with their service and the store itself, especially since their recent revamp. However, two incidents has put such a damper on shopping there that I have made a vow to start shopping at Pick n Pay.

About a month ago I bought a few items, one being smoked viennas which I ate inside the store but kept the paperbag with the price tag on to give to the cashier . The one other item was two samoosas.

After checking out and paying for everything I was literally out the door and felt like my samooses. I searched both my shopping bags but no samooses! It had been rung up and was on my receipt. I went back inside to the same cashier that had cashed up my items and told her I am missing my samoosas. I got a "WHAT?!" response from the woman who packed the items into the plastic bags. Eventually after repeating samoosas three times the cashier looks at me and asked if I had paid for the item. I showed her the receipt as proof that I had, so she turns around and says to me "maybe you already ate them!" Well you could have knocked me over with a feather. I asked if she was accusing me of *****ing items to the value of R10!! Anyway I then proceeded to report it the the supervisor.

On Saturday I went to the same Checkers and bought amongst other items a R30 toy necklace for my 2 year old granddaughter. Yesterday I ony remembered buying it and looked high and low for it. I still had my receipt and it had been rung up and paid for, but was nowhere to be found. Once again it looks like another item paid for but "taken" without one noticing it.

There's now no way I can go back and prove I dont have the item. It's not about the R30, it's about me purchasing an item irrelevant of the cost, but not having it in my bag when I get home.

So Checkers Bergvliet in particular - you will not see me in your store again !!!

Pick n Pay here I come.
