Checkers in Little Falls needs a serious overhaul by Checkers Head Office!

I have always shopped at Checkers Little Falls and have spent a LOT of money there but since the beginning of this year, I have stopped going there even though it's a block from my home and have changed over to Spar and Pick n Pay even though I have to drive out of my area for these stores. I have always respected the Checkers brand but here are just some of the reasons -

1. The store is always dirty - floors, counters etc. are filthy! Staff are often sick and cough and sneeze all over with no thought for hygiene. 2. Empty shelves and they don't replenish stocks. Today I popped in on my way home to pick up a few things in an emergency and the amount of empty shelves is shocking. 3. The bakery is disgusting. Poor hygiene, bakery products that look like plastic, expired items, stale goods, black 'bits' in bread rolls and no one to serve customers. No quality control. 4. There is usually only one teller working while the rest of the staff hang around outside or chat in the back room or money counter. No packers - you have to pack yourself most of the time which is actually preferable as the staff are so rude. 5. Extremely rude staff. I now shop at Spar and Pick n Pay and I wonder if Checkers specifically chooses staff that are rude and unfriendly as I've never found it any where else. And when there is a new, friendly member of staff, they are usually gone in a week! Even Trevor Noah joked about Checkers staff being rude and obnoxious. It never used to be like this. 6. Expired food in deep freezers and food completely iced over. 7. No sign of ANY manager...EVER! I remember the 'good old days' when the manager at this Checkers knew the customers by name, was always available and helpful. 8. Magazine racks chaotic.

Is this a management issue or a Checkers issue? I have gone to the branch in Allen's Nek which is fantastic so it seems as though this is a management and staff issue at this particular branch - which is in a very upmarket area. And, I'm not alone...I belong to various community groups and every one feels the same about Checkers Little Falls. Perhaps head office can do a complete overhaul of this branch so that we can all return to shop there . Then maybe they can make a profit, employ a good manager and more efficient staff.
