Checkers Gordon's Bay does not accept coins for payment

Yesterday I dropped some 1 Rand coins at Checkers Gordon's Bay. As they always need quite some time to count I left them there and asked them to give me an electricity voucher for the money and I wanted to collect the next day. This is how we used to do that in the past. When I got home they already called me and told me to fetch my coins as they would not accept coins as payment anymore. I could not believe it and thought the issue would be solved when I get there the next day and speak to them in person. A lead balloon! I asked for the manager and waited about 20 minutes without success. To my surprise it was again a new manager and it seems that that they replace them almost on a weekly basis. First I was told that he is somewhere in the back, then he would be on the phone and the latest was that he was still (!) in the toilet. So they were obviously lying to me and I understood very well that the manager has no interest to listen to his customer. So he must have sent one of his sales managers to talk to me. This young gentleman could not help at all but he also did not understand that they would not accept coins as payment. After I asked for the manager again they sent another manager to me whom I also told my issue. He explained to me that they changed their policy and that they have to count the coins while I am in the store as they would have had differences with other customers in the past. Makes no sense to me at all but I accepted it and waited. He even confirmed that we never ever even had 1 Rand difference when I brought in coins. After another 15 minutes waiting time he came back with my coins and told me that they would not accept coins as payment anymore. So I wasted about an hour plus my time yesterday as the staff at Checkers is not able to tell a customer upfront that they don't accept coins anymore. They gave me my order paper back on which I wrote my details. It was barely readable anymore as they must have used it as a coaster or maybe even somewhere else. I always found the staff at Checkers Gordon's Bay extremely unprofessional and most of them unfriendly. This kind of service is not acceptable and I won't put my food in their store again.
