Checkers falsely advertises and does not honor deals.

The past few months , I have noticed that checkers will advertise a deal, and then not honour it once you order online or go to the store to buy. On 3 occasions that this has happened to me, I’ve been told that it’s technical error on their site, and that the deal cannot be honoured as the advert was placed in error. How can this be ok? Customers are lured to their online sites and stores because of these deals, only to be told that it was an error. A few months ago I tried to get an online deal for house brand toilet paper. At checkout the deal disappeared. Upon contacting checkers, they told me that the system uploaded the deal in error and so they cannot honour it. Today, I found the Maggie 2 min noodles box of 18 for R49.99 if you swipe your xtra savings card. Went into to the store to purchase and was told that they are out of stock and have been since Monday. I was given a rain check and told that I would be contacted once they get stock. My husband was later told by the same people that they will not be honoring the rain check as the deal was uploaded in error and in fact that they do not even stock the box of 18. Why does this keep happening? Is this legal? Can checkers keep erroneously uploading deals to lure customers and then not honour the deals once they have the customers there. Checkers is sounding ********** and their Methods of sales is *********. They should be brought to book on this. More and more, I’m making the move over to another grocery store where deals are always honored. I keep going back to checkers for the ‘deals’ but these never materialize. Customers should be warned. I’ve noticed the trend that when they refuse to honour the deals, they offer you a similar but more expensive product. Eg. Housbrand toilet paper 18 rolls- R69.99. As this was a technical error, they offered me the twin saver 18 rolls for R108. Housebrand oats: buy one get one free for R29.99. They offered me the jungles oats for R46 ( not a buy one get one free special) Maggie noodles box of 18 R49.99: I was offered the Kelloggs 5 pack for R19.99. The trend is that all these substitutes are not on special and in fact more expensive. They assume that if you want the product, you will end up buying the more expensive alternative. This is a ****.
