CHECKERS DODGING THEIR CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

During last month I went to shop at Checkers N1 in Goodwood, asking the shop attendant specifically for a broad leave ********er to apply on my grass. He gave me a bottle of Roundup which I then app**** to my grass both on the inside of my property as well on the pavement outside. Within a couple of days a noticed that the grass and **** was starting to die. I checked the bottle that was provided to me by the shop attendant at Checkers and realised that he in fact he given me a product that basically ****s all vegetation; this despite my request to be supp**** with a broad leave ********er. I approached the store manager, Mr vd Merwe, who wanted to compensate me with the value of the ********er. I could not accept this as the damage was substantially more than the amount (R69-00) offered as compensation. He then promised to take the matter up with his regional manager and get back to me. This, however, never happened. I approached him on 15 October 2018 finding him from defensive to accusing me not applying the ********er correctly and not reading instructions on the bottle, also asking me why I have not asked assistance from a manager at the time of purchase. (show me the shopper that asks for manager when they want to buy something!!) I raised the issue with of accepting corporate responsibility as one of Checkers's staff members were asked for and provided product advise and that I had no reason at the time to doubt the advise. Mr vd Merwe at the time offered to compensate me with fertiliser to which I responded that the grass is dead and that fertiliser will not assist to remedy the situation. I showed him a quotation that I received from a garden service provider that ranged from R4000 to R7000 depending an the grass type. Mr vd Merwe once again took my details and promised to provide me with feedback. At least this time he kept his promise and telephonically informed me he has consulted with his regional manager and that the store takes no responsibility for me not reading the instructions on the bottle and that they therefore cannot do anything for me. The compensation thus went from R69 to an unspecified amount of fertiliser to nothing!!! Appalling Checkers!!
