Checkers Can Do Better!
Sometimes supermarkets make the error of having a shelf price which is different from the price which scans at the check-out. One accepts this. At Checkers in Rondebosch, Cape Town, on Monday 3 Feb, the check-out price for baby tomatoes was R4.00 higher than the shelf price advertised. I asked a cashier to whom I should show the error and claim a refund. She sent me to the manager (Redaa?) who was on the phone and clearly disinterested. He sent me to the cigarette kiosk where the young cashier called the supervisor, Christine. She went to check the shelf price and after filling in the 'returns book', I was handed the R4.00 due to me by law.
Not one of the three staff who dealt with me apologised or said "We apologies; this should not have happened; sorry for the inconvenience; thank you for alerting us to the error".
I emailed the Checkers contact facility on the web, and have had no response from them yet.
P & P offer the item free in such instances, and usually a pleasant apology. Checkers needs to do better in this respect.
