Broken eggs
This is one thing that I have been complaining about for more than a year with Checkers Hyper Upington downtown (not Kalahari Mall Checkers) and it is just ignored. First, it was Nulaid eggs and now it is the other brands that are stacked to cause the maximum damage to the eggs. The eggs are stacked vertically and not horizontally. This causes the eggs to shift from their "safe position" and when picked up it gets crushed and/or broken. When I queried the merchandisers of the relevant companies and Checkers staff (management) included it was said it was done to increase shelf space. The result is that the eggs are protruding past the self and can easily be walked off the shelf. When the eggs are placed back horizontally the get cracked and broken. Nulaid has tough packaging and even then there are damages. The other brands have flimsy top packaging and damages are far more prevalent. I understand about stocking the shelves to capacity for the customers (PLEASE NOT THIS IS NOT JUST DONE DURING THE CURRENT QUARANTINE TIME), but inevitably it is the customer that losses due to the damages. I don't see why the customer has to suffer losses in the pursuit of profit by big companies. I bought a tray Friday (03/04/2020) and have 2 broken eggs in it. I handle my fragile groceries with the utmost care and pay particular attention to fragile items. I ensured that nothing could damage them, yet I have broken eggs. It is not as if I live in town and can go back quickly to rectify this. I live outside of the town and I know I am not the only one complaining about this practice and the losses that we have to endure. Can something be done about this? I highly doubt that this will be rectified if the past year or more is any indication!!! This is highly frustrating and unexeptable.
