Broken eggs

Bought 18 eggs of which 6 were broken. Why do they not check the eggs at the till like other shops. When I got home to find all the broken eggs how could I prove that the eggs were broken when I bought them so I just cooked all the broken ones. Why should it be on me to lose out. I never buy fresh produce from checkers because of prior experience and again it proved I should not buy fresh produce from them again
