Be careful of purchasing cheap Chinese products

<p>I purchased an Ottimo Electric BBQ Grill from them less than 2 years ago and have only used the grill on a few occasions. The grill is now faulty and no longer works and made contact with their Consumer Affairs Department hoping that they could refer me to a 3rd party repairer who would be able to fix the product for me. To my astonishment I received the following response:</p> <p> Our telephone conversation earlier today refers.</p> <p> </p> <p>As discussed with you, the Ottimo appliance brand is imported by Checkers and backed by a one year guarantee against any manufacturing defects. Checkers does not import or keep additional parts for these appliances as this would influence the affordability of these products.</p> <p> </p> <p>Ottimo appliances offer outstanding value to customers and therefore, it is more affordable to replace the appliance than to have it repaired. We can, however, confirm that it is possible to have these appliances repaired by a third party, depending on the type of fault which is presented.</p> <p> </p> <p>In conclusion, we would like to thank you for the opportunity to provide you with clarity regarding this matter. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me using the contact information below.</p> <p>So according to Checkers if you purchase a ''so called'' cheap product from them and there happens to be a problem you should just purchase another! They also do not offer any after sales service and tend to ''wash'' their hands of one's complaint. If this is there Customer Service attitude then why do they not inform the consumers of this arrangement? They make mention that one can approach 3rd party repairers who will be able to repair the items, have just approached three and they are unwilling to assist since they do not have parts for these ''so called'' cheap items. So please be aware when shopping at Checkers!</p> <p> </p>
