BAD, BAD, BAD IN EVERY WAY

I live in Greenstone Hill and regularly used to shop at Checkers Green Valley. Maybe one out of every 5 times I shopped there, I could go in, get what I needed, pay and leave. The other 4 times I had issues such as (in order of frequency):

1. Items are out of stock.

2. Goods when scanned at the till are priced much higher than on the shelf (sometimes by as much as R10).

3. Prices increase by huge amounts in a very short space of time.

4. Items (meat especially) is rotten.

5. Items are of inferior quality.

One day, I purchased R400 worth of fresh hake fillet at the fish counter, at R120 per kg. When I cooked the hake the following day, it was full of bones and scales. Fillet (especially at R120 per kg) should not have bones and scales. The next day I went in to complain to the manager. Of course they did not offer me my money back. He took my number and said that he would discuss this with the fish specialist and get back to me. Nobody got back to me, but suddenly I started receiving lots of marketing sms messages from Checkers. He clearly had used my number to increase their marketing database rather than dealing with my complaint. I did not agree to receive any marketing communications, so this in itself was a breech of POPI. They clearly are not interested in customer satisfaction. I have shopped there a couple of times since then simply because I was in a hurry and it's the nearest shop to me, but the same issues persist. Don't bother complaining, they don't care.

Yesterday, 6 July 2016, I went to Checkers Hyper at Meadowdale Mall. I bought 2 packets of sticky chicken wings cook-in bags which were on a special offer shelf in the deli section. They were marked at R13.99 each. When I got to the till, they rang up as R14.99 each. I told the cashier, who sent the lady who was packing my bags to go and check. She took the 2 items with her, but did not go in the same direction as where I got the items. She also was very annoyed that she had to stop leaning on the counter and actually move somewhere. She kept giving me dirty looks as she went. I saw that she was not going to where I got the items, so I went and got the price tag, which showed R13.99. After much ado, they gave me the items for R13.99. I also asked her to remove another item in my basket as it was R119.99, an item which costs R99.99 at Pick n Pay. I can understand a small price difference, but R20 difference on the same item...that's purely *********** your customers. Anyway, I went on my way.

This morning, when wanting to cook the sticky chicken wings, I discovered that she had changed the 2 sticky chicken wings packets for garlic and rosemary. I did not check this at the store, why would I and why would she change the items for different items? I cannot use these and I now have to drive back to the shop to change this. Aside from this, I am cooking this chicken for other people and have to deliver it by a certain time. This whole palava is going to make me late for my deliveries on top of this very bad service.

Another thing I noticed was that a packet of butternuts was R22.99 when I shopped there last week (not on special offer). When I looked at the same item yesterday, it cost R27.99. A price in crease of R5 in one week.

I have now tried to Checkers stores under different management with the same result...CHECKERS PROVIDES VERY BAD SERVICE AT VERY HIGH PRICES.
