A waste of time and money

Good day Checkers,

I am astonished at the lack of understanding of some of the staff members at Checkers wonderpark Pretoria. I was buying a few items this evening including a Cellc simcard which i was told it has to be RICArd before i can actually pay for it - i had no problem with that. However, I was told that in order to be assisted i need to produce a proof of residence and an id copy and still had no problems with that.

I had my id card with me and an electronic proof of residence on my phone which i downloaded from eTshwane.co.za but i was told that the electronic proof of residence is not acceptable but that only a physical copy is acceptable. I am struggling to understand such a law especially if the documents are not being filed?

I had to spend my data and send the same soft copy i was showing them on the phone to their email address for them to accept it as valid proof of residence. This is a complete waste of time and does not make any sense because the same document that is viewed as invalid is the same document i sent to their email address. I have been to other stores and never had this problem. I have never in my life experienced such poor customer experience and unreasonable demands especially at this age and time. Who in this day and time walks around with a bunch of documents?

The Controller Tsholofelo Letsholo said that the store requires that the physical copy be presented in terms of RICA and that the copy will be later filed but the question is that if you are only filing the proof of residence then why are you not making a copy of the Id as well? and also why would you need to file this documents for what? i am not applying for credit or an account but i wanted a simcard.

At the end of it all a copy of the same document was made but was not taken for filling. Something that could have taken me 5min it took me over 30min to resolve.

This is completely unreasonable and bad customer treatment. Checkers you can do better PLEASE!! stop this nonsense.
