Warning: Problematic Agents and Landlords

We've had two disappointing experiences with agents from this company in Durban South. The first agent transferred our deposit without consent, violating our lease agreement, and we still haven't received it back. The landlord threatened us, entered our property without consent, and cut off utilities despite timely payments. The agent sided with the landlord, claiming incorrect VAT charges and adding unagreed services.

The second agent rented us her property without a lease agreement or inspection. Despite agreeing not to take a deposit, she evicted us while other tenants remained. We faced **************, and the landlord's son used derogatory language.

We've taken on additional responsibilities due to previous tenants' and landlords' negligence, including cleaning and living with ****roaches, *******, and exposed personal belongings.

We're financially drained and advise others to fami****ize themselves with relevant laws (Rental Housing Act, Consumer Protection Act, VAT Act, and EAAA Act). Know your rights and don't back down from intimidating agents. Consider alternative agencies for a better experience. Beware of landlords who come off too accommodating, as this may be a sign of underlying issues. We found that these agents consistently sided with the landlord, which exacerbated our problems.
