Terrible Service - Once Again!
Still awaiting refund of part of rental deposit after Chas Everitt - Morningside has held back over R3000.00 claiming for lease cancellation fees. Now the new story is that the walls are dirty with a few holes that have been drilled for curtains/shelves. Yet they are aware that I currently have no income & am not in a position to pay someone to fix these petty things. The week has passed and I get useless emails for Lee-Anne Naik at the branch, also phone calls that offer no resolution from Merlin Naicker. This is very wrong!

06 Jul 2019, 07:50 Dear Mr Miller,
In fact, both the landlord and ourselves are sympathetic to your financial situation following your retrenchment and have accordingly gone out of our way to save you unnecessary expense. The rental that would have been due for July was kindly waived and the landlord allowed the penalty for early termination (which was stipulated in your lease) to be paid out of your original damages deposit. In addition, we have given you the opportunity to attend yourself to certain defects identified during the outgoing inspection, instead of just appointing contractors and paying them out of the balance of your deposit as is the usual procedure. However if you cannot rectify, the landlord is quite entitled to use some or all of the remainder of the deposit to restore the property and until that has been done, you are actually not entitled to those funds. In addition, as we have explained to you, we are unable to release any funds to you until we receive an instruction to do so from the landlord who is our client.
These are the facts and we do not intend to enter into any further correspondence with you in this forum, but a rental manager will make direct contact with you once more in an attempt to finalize this matter.
