Black Mold - Deposit Lost - 1 Year Old Baby Sick and Suffering - No where to go

We saw a listing on Facebook and contacted Chas Everitt It was a mess from the begging

When we first moved there were a few things that needed to be fixed before we moved it. This was mentioned in our lease agreement however on the day we moved in, the contractor had only just started painting the walls and mending the curtain railings. We were forced to leave our furniture and seek alternative accommodation for the night as we have a 1 year old baby and could not have her sleeping among the fumes while waiting for paint to dry. None of this was communicated to us so you can imagine the dismay, inconvenience and cost we ran into and had to deal with on our first night

When we contacted the agency we were told that they cannot "technically" assist us as the Landlord has 7 days to remedy the situation... one wonders what is the point of dealing with an agency if they cannot "technically" assist you

The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working and while we waited for this to be done, our couch, babies pram, babies bed, babies toys, babies mat, our towels and our bedding became infested with black mold. After a month and after having threatened to take the landlord to the housing tribunal, Chas Everitt sent cleaners to clean what could be cleaned. The rest of our belongings needed to be thrown out and replaced with no compensation. All of this could have been avoided had the place been inspected and passed prior to our moving in.

A week later after that, someone was sent by the landlord to fix the extractor fan in the bathroom however due to bad wiring in the bathroom a weaker fan was installed...

Black mold has now not only infested the home but we are all extremely sick... my husband, my 1 year old child and I.

You might ask yourself why we don't just move out? After months of emails between myself, Chas Everitt and the land lord I am sitting in a situation where I am unable to move out as I do not have a deposit for a new place and was told by Chas Everitt to plan as though I was not going to receive my deposit back.

My face, my husbands hands any my babies legs are swollen and welted from the black mold. I have to choose between being homeless and risking the lives of my family and myself

No one seems phased... no assistance has been offered everyone just carries on with their lives as long as the rent is paid on time which it always is
