Dishonest business

Sometimes around June I was looking for a wedding venue, I went to this place for viewing, was welcomed by a guy called Clinton who happened to be the manager. We talked and I explained my requirements and the guy sold me a dream introducing me directly to a company they worked with that provided the services I needed for the wedding. Before making my booking I requested for bar prices and contacts for the company they worked with which Clinton provided referring to them 'our bar managers', giving me the impression that they were outsourced by the venue to provide the services they could not. I was given put in contact with this particular service provider and since their prices were reasonable, I booked the venue. Chartwell is a self catering venue that gives you nothing but an empty hall, it was important for me to work out a cost estimate of everything and compare it to other venues. hence I based my decision by assessing the service provider brought to me by Clinton the venue manager and the venue together. I was lured into this, I was sold all sorts of ideas of what this service provider can do and has done at this particular venue. Months later I contact Clinton to begin the planning process, I was suddenly told this service provider no longer works with them, conveniently so and suddenly the service, now only the bar needed to be provided by the venue and was met with new prices and extremely rude staff, I asked to see Clinton who happened to suddenly change his story and was extremely rude to me. I realised that in that instant that this venue was dishonest and their stories kept changing, I discussed cancellation with Clinton on various occasions as I explained to him that my decision to take the venue was taken hand in hand with the information he provided about the service provider and he assured me that everything would be taken care of. When I eventually decided I wanted to cancel because I could see that their stories were not adding up, I was suddenly told that Clinton resigned. I find it so convenient that whenever I need an explanation, someone pulls out. I'm stuck with a situation where my money is being held, I'm being threatened by the hotel staff and owners while the only person who knows the story has suddenly resigned. I even offered them half of the deposit I had already paid, a whole R7 500.00 but they won't have it, they insist on keeping my hard earned R15000.00. This is a dishonest business, I feel like this is their way of ******** people, luring them into the venue and then changing their story. I know it's hard to find a self catering venue in Johannesburg but trust me, it's not worth it.
