Charlotte Maxeke

My husband was referred from Pholosong hospital to Charlotte Maxeke hospital At the ENT department in March 2024. He was diagnosed with Parotid squamous cell carsinoma cancer. He had only a mass on his face but in June mass burst open and he had a open wound Every time when we had a appointment they would give us a date for the operation, but then they always had this story they are discussing my husband cancer. He had a open wound on his face and had so much unbearable pain. Had lost 30 kg in7 months, Only in August they sent him to the aesthesia dr to see if he is fit for a operation, but the dr said he is not strong enough and the operation would will take up to 12 and 16 hours. If they operated him when there was still only the mass he would have made the operation, he could barely walk on his own he was in a wheelchair. He was twice admitted into the ward, but still they did not operate on him. And only on the 20 August they send him to the oncology department, There at the oncology were the dr quiet shocked to see the big open wound on the right side of his face. He was waitng for radation But on the 30 September the wound stating to bleed alot that is when we called the ambulance to the far east Rand hospital Just after 1 am in the morning he was lying fro after 1am up to 11am without any dr or suster to attend him that is when we took him away from Far east Rand Hosptal tp Pholososong. When we arrived at Pholosong they immediately attended to him. But unfortunately he passed away on the 4 October at home. I just think if ENT at Charltte Maxeke hospital has send him straight to oncology he would still be alive.
