We are a prominent loss adjusting company with extensive experience in assessing workmanship standards across the construction and building-related trades. As part of our profession, we regularly evaluate installations against acceptable industry standards and best practice. We are therefore fully aware of what constitutes competent workmanship and what falls below an acceptable level. Despite this expertise, our experience with Chan’s Cabinet Works was extremely disappointing. The cabinetry that was manufactured and installed was of an unacceptably poor standard. Doors were misaligned, panels were uneven, units did not sit flush, and the overall finish lacked basic attention to detail. The installation appeared rushed, poorly executed, and inconsistent with reasonable professional cabinet installation standards. These workmanship defects were formally raised in an attempt to resolve the matter. Instead of being properly remedied, the situation deteriorated. The cupboards were removed, and we were charged as part of this process, yet the fundamental workmanship issues were never corrected. The end result was a failed installation, wasted time, and unnecessary inconvenience. Communication throughout this process was ineffective. Concerns were not adequately addressed, corrective actions were insufficient, and no satisfactory resolution was achieved despite reasonable opportunities being given to do so. From a professional loss-adjusting perspective, the quality of work delivered does not meet the standard contemplated under the Consumer Protection Act, particularly the requirement that services be performed in a manner that consumers are reasonably entitled to expect. Based on this experience, we have no confidence in the workmanship or service reliability of Chan’s Cabinet Works. We strongly caution other consumers to exercise extreme care, insist on strict quality inspections, and avoid accepting work that does not meet acceptable professional standards.
