Watered down experience - not worth the 80km drive

My wife and I visited the Chameleon Village on in February this year and it was a magical experience with live music, an assortment of wonderful food vendors and a great vibe. It was the perfect getaway from the hustle of Johannesburg.<br> <br> We visited again this weekend and we were very disappointed to find that most of your vendors have closed down and to find that your biggest attraction The Chameleon Brewery is now moving at the end of the month. It was like visiting a ghost town.<br> <br> The reason we were told, from talking to staff at the remaining stalls, is that the land lord wants to create a more 'upmarket' venue. Apparently this definition of upmarket includes, hiking up the rent, the banning of Afrikaans music etc. Do you understand the cultural demographic of your area at all? <br> <br> As a BLACK South African I am disgusted by the stupidity of this type of thinking. South Africa is about diversity, Chameleon Village was a place I could experience African culture and enjoy dining from many cultures including Middle Eastern, German and Chinese.<br> <br> My experience in February was phenomenal, and yes, that included the Afrikaans music. If I want upmarket I can go to Sandton City.
