***** AND THEFT

I bought building material at Chamberlain Centurion and i sent them proof of payment with the quotations and even called one of their employee before my project started to confirm if he received the email . A week later i went to store to check if the material i bought has been delivered according to the schedule as my contractor advised that they will deliver as and when needed. I spoke to one of their employees and she assure me that as a payee no one is allowed to exchange, refunds or do credits without my knowledge.

The same week i phoned and sent emails requested them to check my orders if there are no credits and refunds. They confirmed that there's been cancellation on materials and credits processed and not allowed to share that information because of POPI act.

I then send them a email asking them if the POPI act doesn't protect their customers who make payments. My contractor was assigned to managed the delivery of materials because he has a relationship with them to avoid the material being delivered at the same time because it was a big order and we don't have space. After that no one responded

On the 24th of September i went again after my contractor told me that i must buy cement and knowing very well that the money inside my account is enough and some of the material was not delivered. I was then told that there is no money in my account. They confirmed that they advised my contractor to open a depositors account and he took the money i paid without notifying me, he then changed the delivery address and used his company name to buy his personal staff by cancelling my material.

My problem is i paid directly to Chamberlain and sent them proof of payment. They allowed a ***** and theft to happen inside their store. Why was i not contacted from the first day when everything started. They have my email and contact address. They told me that i must deal with my contractor, there's nothing the can do for me. They only gave me thousands of invoice copies of the material that was bought with my money.

I need assistance, my project is stuck due to Chamberlain employee who didn't do his work properly. According to POPI act no one is allowed to use my money paid directly to them without informing me, and how can they do that without checking who paid. They allowed the contractor to do ***** and theft in their store. I have been ****** close to R30 000 because of the decision they took. I open a case and my contractor was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. I told them but still they are not doing anything while ***** and theft happened in their store.
