On Friday, 24th October 2025, I had to go to the CGC Endoscopy Facility in Cape Road, Gqeberha for a gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Dr A Steenkamp was doing the procedure. I had had the same procedures done from 2002 to 2010 and eventhough the Dr and staff were excellent the gastroscopy wasn't very pleasant and I wanted to gag all the time. What a wonderful experience! The staff were kind, caring, friendly and understanding etc. The place was clean and homely and there was even a comfy waiting area for the person who came with you. The anesthiologist on that day, soon put me at ease and had no difficulty inserting a drip into one of my almost non existent veins. He also listened to my nervous chatter and at times made me laugh. I did not have much to say to Dr Steenkamp, because I was out like a light and woke up after the procedure. I saw him afterwards and straightaway he put my mind at ease and told me I did not have cancer. By the afternoon, a copy of his report was on my laptop. To all those who have to go for any type of Endoscopy, ask your doctor to send you to the CGC Endoscopy Facility. You are in good hands thanks to Dr Andries Kruger and Deon Schoeman, who went that extra mile for their patients. May God be with all those working at the CGC Endoscopy Facility
